Exercise Away Urinary Incontinence Without Kegels

Kegels haven’t worked for you? Learn why and what to do about it. If you have a history of total joint replacement, injury to a leg, or surgery that required an assistive device to help you walk, you may have lost the function needed to maintain a strong, healthy pelvic floor. You can’t consciously squeeze muscles and resolve incontinence. You need to strengthen the muscles that support your bladder! This class will teach you how. Access to all slide and workout recordings (instructor only) is provided for review and enhanced practice after the live class is taught.

Since supporting your bladder as it fills with urine and gets heavier is what your pelvic floor must do to keep you continent, it is critical to strengthen your pelvic floor. You may be asking, “How do I do that?” This class provides your answer. Learn from an expert in movement and pelvic floor function who has been helping patients and clients resolve chronic issues for 27 years. Learn pelvic floor anatomy, how your hips connect to your pelvic floor, and how to use the Pelvicore Pro to strengthen the right muscles and support your bladder effectively. Develop the skills to achieve healthy pelvic floor function for a lifetime!

You will need to purchase a red Pelvicore Pro from www.PelvicSolutions.com to perform the movements taught in this class. Choose silver if you are strong and athletic. Yes, athletes can have weak pelvic floors too!

This course is taught remotely via Zoom. You will need your Hudson Valley username and password to access the course.

Introduction to Nature Journaling

As humans, we all have unfinished lives, entanglements and thoughts to share.  All we need is the right environment to avail our inner stories to come forth. Nature offers this kind of safe environment that draws us in, inspires and awakens us to smell, hear, feel, and see in revitalizing ways. With essential oils infused through our local trees to smell, an atmospheric ambiance to feel, a biophony better than any symphony to hear and thriving colors to see, nature journaling provides an opportunity to heal, grow, hear and restore through these short interactive experiential writing assignments.

As a writer, artist and wilderness lover, your instructor has always turned to the forest for environmental inspiration. This class will afford you the structure, nurture, confidence, safety, beauty, and inspiration to find your own voice and to jump start your own inner journey through nature journaling. You don’t have to be a writer, but you may become one after this class. This class will meet in the Schodack Town Park. Cost of class includes a $15 supply cost for journaling book.

Class structure:

• 30 minutes walking, discussion and assignment

• 30 minutes reflective writing

• 30 minutes sharing time

Plantar Fasciitis Culprits and What to Do About It!

Do you struggle with this problem? Did rolling your foot on a frozen water bottle fail to fix the pain? As you may know, treating the foot directly often doesn’t work. This is because everything is connected to everything else and often the culprits are far away from the foot, such as hip and pelvic stability. These areas are rarely looked at when seeking help for this problem.

Addressing the cause of the problem is always a better idea than merely treating the symptom. This workshop is taught online and will teach you anatomy of the foot/ankle and what can go wrong to promote pain in the plantar surface. You will also learn techniques to hydrate, decompress, and heal the connective tissue as well as movements to restore tri-plane function in the areas that require it to enhance optimal plantar surface performance. Access to class recordings (instructor only) is provided after the class has been taught to encourage practice and enhance technique performance and success.

Learn from a physical therapist who sees people eliminate pain, regain health, and return to doing the things they love to do every day. This class requires you to be able to get on and off the floor to perform some of the techniques. Please dress in loose, comfortable clothing and have a yoga/exercise mat and a water bottle available.

An official MELT™ Soft Roller and MELT™ Performance Ball kit are required to fully participate in this workshop. You can purchase them at www.meltmethod.com.

Wing Chun Kung Fu

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a close-range combat system that favors using sensitivity and body leverage over strength. Instructor Steve Grogan has been training in this style since 1995. In session one, you will learn the most common strikes, blocks, and stances, as well as the theories and principles that form Wing Chun’s approach to combat. In session two, Steve will introduce you to exercises that help you understand the use of body leverage instead of brute strength. Finally, in session three, you will be able to use the techniques you have learned to effectively defend yourself. In this final session, you will learn drills to help develop your reflexes.
