Courses
CDL Class A
This course is for those seeking to qualify for the Class A CDL Skills test. The curriculum prepares students to meet Theory and Behind the Wheel Vehicle training per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. The curriculum is 102 hours in length and consists of three parts. The first part is one week or 40 hours of classroom, lab, and Learning Management System (LMS) instruction. Completion of this part leads to the ELDT Theory certification and Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). The second part is 60 hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) vehicle instruction to prepare the student for FMCSA Range and Public Road ELDT proficiency requirements for the Class A CDL skills test (road test). The final portion of the program is scheduling for 2 hours for the state Skills Test (road test). Preparation and scheduling for the CDL Skills test on an automatic only transmission vehicle is included.

CDL Class B
This Course is for those seeking to qualify for the Class B Truck CDL Skills test. The curriculum prepares students to meet Theory and Behind the Wheel Vehicle training per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. The curriculum is 92 hours in length and consists of three parts. The first part is one week or 40 hours of classroom, lab, and Learning Management System (LMS) instruction. Completion of this part leads to the ELDT Theory certificate and Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). The second part is 50 hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) vehicle instruction to prepare the student for FMCSA Range and Public Road ELDT proficiency requirements for the Class B CDL Skills test. The final portion of the program is scheduling for 2 hours for the state Skills Test (road test). Preparation and scheduling for the CDL Skills test on a manual transmission vehicle is included.

Driver Education Make-Up
This course is intended to educate students (age 16 or older) on appropriate driving skills and habits. Students must complete 24 hours of driving (under the supervision of a parent/guardian holding a valid New York State driver’s license) and attend all 24 hours of scheduled lecture classes in order to be eligible for the Motor Vehicle Certificate MV-285. If you know you have to miss a class for any reason, please wait and take this course at another time. One make-up session for an excused classroom absence with college approval is allowed for an additional $25 fee, and will be scheduled for a date to be determined. The lecture portion of the class meet weekly. Students may chose to register for remote class (Wednesday evenings or the in-person class (Sunday mornings) Parents/guardians are responsible for completing the 24 hours of supervised driving to equal a minimum of six hours behind the wheel and a minimum of 18 hours of observation of the licensed driver. The curriculum will be provided by Bells Driving School. Each week parents will be emailed a checklist of skills to be addressed during their supervised driving times with their student. The completed checklists must be submitted electronically every week throughout the program. Weekly driving lessons can occur at a schedule convenient to both the parent/guardian and student.
The MV-285 Student Certificate of Completion allows:
1. A New York State junior permit holder to schedule a road test
2. Young drivers a possible reduction in automobile insurance cost (dependent upon insurance provider participation) 3. A 17-year-old to receive a senior license (MV-285 must be submitted to local DMV to attain this benefit)
