Honors College

The mission of the Honors College is to attract future scholars and develop leaders engaging in a rigorous curriculum with an emphasis on academics, service, leadership and diversity.

Honors College students demonstrate intellectual curiosity, ambition, integrity and global citizenship.

Honors College students will take specially designated honors courses and have the opportunity to engage in research, internships and service projects. Students will be prepared to seamlessly transfer to a top tier four-year institution to further purse their academic goals.


Honors students will be eligible for tuition scholarships and will also receive memberships to the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.

Eligibility Requirements

We look forward to welcoming the first cohort of 50 students to the Honors College in Fall 2023.

  • Pursuing an A.A. or A.S. degree at HVCC
  • Minimum cumulative high school average of 90, as determined by high school transcript
  • Intent to transfer to a four-year institution
  • Recommendation letter from a high school counselor, principal or teacher
  • A personal essay highlighting academic and extracurricular accomplishments and reflecting on the unique value of an honors education
  • Interview with the Honors College Director
