HESI A2 Admission Prep Course

Are you interested in a career in nursing? The HESI-A2 admission assessment exam is required for admission to Hudson Valley Community College’s Nursing program.

Course Details

This intensive course will provide review instruction in the academic areas that the test covers:

  • Reading comprehension
  • English (grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary)
  • Mathematics focused on math skills needed for health care fields including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratio and proportion, and household measures
  • General math facts that are useful, for example, when calculating drug dosages and solutions
  • Anatomy & Physiology (coverage of general terminology and anatomical structures and systems)

This course will cover exam topics and question types found on admission exams, as well as sample questions, step-by-step explanations, illustrations, and comprehensive practice exams to help you review the subject areas and hone your test-taking skills. The course will also provide pre-test and post-tests to help identify your specific areas of weakness so you can focus your study time on the subjects you need most.

Course Instructor

Jodi Dorrough DNP, MS, RN
Dr. Dorrough has nursing experience in cardiology, critical care and supervision. The majority of her career has been spent in the Cardiac Cath lab. She holds a doctorate in Doctor of Nursing Practice and an MS in Nursing Education. Dr. Dorrough has taught critical care and medical/surgical elements for the last six years and has extensive experience in the admission preparation process for nursing schools.
