College Application Workshop

This course will provide assistance to high school juniors and seniors initiating the college application process. Students in this workshop should come prepared with a list of colleges they are interested in applying to. We will organize the materials needed to streamline the application process, address questions that students might need direction on, discuss application essays and topics, and identify resources that might be of help throughout the process. Email and password organization will be addressed and students will be advised on the easiest way to how to apply to multiple colleges. Course fee includes $5 computer fee. Students will need their Hudson Valley username and password for the course.

SAT Preparation Course

This course is designed to prepare you for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (math, verbal and writing sections). The schedule of topics will be determined during the first session. The course will teach strategies for problem solving, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, sentence completion, grammar and essay writing skills. The classes will use actual SAT questions to familiarize you with the test format and style. Students will develop a more realistic set of expectations for test questions and the skills to master them. The book that will be used in the course is McGraw Hill’s “SAT, 2022 Edition” and is required for the first class session. This course is taught remotely via Zoom. You will need your Hudson Valley username and password to access the course.
