Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Sonographers, also called ultrasound technologists, use special imaging equipment that directs sound waves into a patient's body to assess and diagnose various medical conditions. This one-year certificate program gives you the skills to be a competent entry-level general sonographer.

Those entering the program are often graduates of the college's other allied health programs, such as the Radiologic Technology A.A.S. program, but some enter the program with a bachelor's degree and the required prerequisites.

This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation.

This program is offered by the Medical Imaging Department.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and ranked by date of complete application. Review begins every year on February 1 for an August start term.
The program duration is one full year from August to August. View the guidelines for admission.
Student applying to the program must complete both the 40 hour Observation Form and Patient Skills Verification Form.
All applicants accepted into the program must be able to meet the program's technical standards as outlined in the Technical Standards Policy.
