NYS Part-Time TAP for Non-Degree Programs
Prepare for in-demand jobs in growing fields with microcredentials and non-credit workforce development courses that are now eligible for the New York State Part-Time Non-Degree Tuition Assistance Program.
Select microcredentials and non-credit workforce development courses are eligible to have the New York State (NYS) Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) cover part of the cost of tuition, if you meet the criteria below.
An applicant must:
- Be a legal resident of NYS and have resided in NYS for 12 continuous months prior to enrolling in the program or be qualified as a non-NYS resident under the NYS DREAMAct;
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen or be qualified under the Senator Jose Peralta NYS DREAM Act;
- Study at an approved postsecondary institution in NYS;
- Be enrolled as a part-time student taking the equivalent of one to eleven credits, applicable per semester at a participating college located in NYS;
- Be accepted for admission in an approved non-degree microcredential or non-credit workforce development eligible program listed below;
- Be charged at least $200 tuition per year;
- Not have exhausted TAP eligibility
- Meet income eligibility requirements;
- Be in compliance with the terms of any service condition imposed by a NYS award; and
- Not be in default on a federal or state student loan or on any repayment of state awards.
NYS TAP Income Limits

Single independent undergraduate students with no tax dependents | $10,000 |
NOTE:
- In order to be eligible, students MUST complete the FAFSA and NYS TAP application.
- Students have a lifetime of eight semesters of TAP eligibility. These will be pro-rated for the number of credits you earn, but this will use a portion of your lifetime TAP eligibility.
