This certificate program focuses on the diagnosis and repair of hybrid, autonomous and electric vehicle systems to better prepare the automotive workforce for the wave of electric vehicles entering the market. The program will walk you through all the related technologies associated with hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and vehicle cybersecurity.
The program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation, and will prepare you to enter the automotive repair field with an emphasis on emerging technologies found in electric and hybrid vehicles.
Upon completion of your certificate, you will be prepared to diagnose and repair modern vehicles and their computerized systems, with a thorough understanding of the technologies associated with hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as advanced driver assistance systems and vehicle cybersecurity.
This program is offered by the Applied Technologies Department. Entering students must possess a valid New York State driver’s license and a professional tool set as prescribed by the department. Entering students must have completed the required Automotive Technician associate degree program or present proof of five years of work experience as an automotive repair technician and ASE certification in Electricity Electronic Systems (A6) and Engine Performance (A8). In addition, students must wear uniforms, purchase required manuals and adhere to the attendance policy of the department. Attendance is mandatory.
