This two-year associate degree is designed for individuals who are interested in entering the field of child care administration or opening their own home child care facility. Degree coursework will provide you with a solid foundation in childhood education to prepare you for both teaching and administering a program.
The degree also offers the courses and credits in early childhood administration needed for the Child Program Administrator Credential (CPAC) offered by the New York State Association for the Education of Young Children. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be prepared to submit the required portfolio for the CPAC credential.
Child care teachers with this associate's degree, one year teaching experience and the CPAC will have the credentials needed to become a child care director and will be well prepared to open a family child care center. Graduates of the program are also prepared to work as an administrator in an agency that serves children and families.
New York State Child Care Educational Incentive Program (EIP) funding may cover all or some of the cost of the certificate coursework.
The college also offers an Early Childhood Administration certificate program for those who are already working in the field. The degree program is offered through the college's Education and Social Sciences Department.
