The Digital Media degree introduces you to a range of digital art and design courses along with a foundation in the fine arts. You will study drawing, two-dimensional design, photography, digital imaging, graphic and web design, animation and video art and also be introduced to programming for artists and designers.
Through studio courses, you will learn the technical aspects of each area as well as the contemporary and art historical contexts for these fields. Students in the program also participate in the annual student exhibition, seek internships and attend panel discussions and presentations by professionals in various digital media fields.
Second-year students will assemble a print and web portfolio to help prepare them to begin their career or transfer for further study. Career opportunities exist in advertising agencies, design firms, web and multimedia production companies, retail stores, printers, government agencies and corporate in-house art departments. The program also will meet many SUNY general education requirements for transfer.
The degree is offered through the Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media Department. A Digital Media Certificate program is also available. Contact the department to speak with an advisor about whether the degree or certificate program is right for you.
