Faculty Resource Room: BTC 1052
The Faculty Resource Room has been a vital area for faculty since 2002. Along with the opportunity to experiment with technology similar to what is available in the classrooms and computer labs, faculty can get assistance in pedagogy, teaching techniques, and technology from mentors. The Center for Professional Excellence also offers workshops in the Faculty Resource Room as a way for faculty to personally experience some of the emerging technology available to them and their students. The Faculty Resource Room, which is located in BTC 1052, is also a place where faculty can complete other tasks that include photocopying, grading, reading, or conducting brief meetings in between classes.
What you will find in the Faculty Resource Room
- Nine personal computers with VDI access and an Apple computer with network access
- Instructor console featuring the Crestron Digital Switcher, document camera, webcam, and DVD player
- Scantron
- Photocopier with the capability to scan and fax
- Color Printer
Access to the Faculty Resource Room
We invite you to stop in anytime to explore the facilities. To access the Faculty Resource Room, use the code for the keypad on the door. If you do not have the code, it is available in the Center for Professional Excellence (BTC 1042), during regular business hours. If the CPE is closed, call (518) 629-7210 and someone from the Office of Public Safety will provide the code.
Faculty Mentors
Faculty mentors are “go-to” people who have been cross-trained on the equipment that any faculty member will encounter in your classroom. Mentors can help with the instructor consoles, basic computer tasks, computer software, and pedagogical areas such as learning styles, syllabi, and with quick questions about the campus in general.
Mentors also have areas in which they specialize. Please email mentors@hvcc.edu to get the best answer to your question.
While your department chairperson is always your first point of contact for any question, faculty mentors are also available to help with questions by working with you one-on-one or in a workshop setting.
