With some of the finest athletic facilities of any two-year school in the country, Hudson Valley Community College has also long been an ideal place to be a student-athlete but it’s also known as a great place to start an education in the physical education and exercise science fields.
Now, students pursuing those particular fields have another transfer option when they complete their associate degree at Hudson Valley. The college recently signed a transfer articulation agreement with SUNY Cortland, which offers undergraduate degree programs in Physical Education and graduate programs in Physical Education and Physical Education Leadership.
The new transfer agreements, which outlines the courses, academic standards and degree requirements from Hudson Valley to SUNY Cortland, will allow successful Hudson Valley Exercise Science and Physical Education Studies graduates to complete a B.S. degree at Cortland in two additional years of study.
Over the past decade, Hudson Valley has expanded the breadth and specialization of its degree options that can lead to careers in the health, exercise and wellness fields. The Health, Physical Education and Exercise Studies Department offers three certificate programs (Coaching, Fitness Specialist and Worksite Health Promotion) and three associate degrees (Exercise Science, Health and Wellness Studies, Physical Education Studies).
“We are so pleased to partner with SUNY Cortland, which has one of largest and most highly respected physical education teacher-education programs in the Northeast,” said Hudson Valley President Roger Ramsammy. “This new agreement gives our students another SUNY option if they wish to continue studying in these fields.”
Hudson Valley has more than 250 transfer agreements with colleges and universities throughout the country. For up-to-date information on all of the college’s transfer agreements, contact the Center for Careers and Transfer.
