Biology, Chemistry and Physics Career Fair Connects Students to Local Employers and Transfer Institutions

The Biology, Chemistry and Physics Department at Hudson Valley Community College hosted a Career Fair for students on campus in the college’s Science Center on Monday, Oct. 7.
Attendees had the opportunity to connect with representatives from local industries, regional transfer colleges and research facilities to learn about career and transfer opportunities in the sciences.
Participating colleges included Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Siena College; and University at Albany. Regional employers included Apheon Biosciences; Curia; Ecovative; Neural Stem Institute; NYS Department of Environmental Conservation; Regeneron Pharmaceuticals; and Taconic Biosciences.
The event was open to all students and focused on those completing a degree program through the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Department as well as Engineering Science A.S. degree.
The Biology, Chemistry and Physics Department offers several programs that prepare students for a variety of science-based careers, including Biological Sciences A.S., Biotechnology A.S., Biotechnology Certificate, Environmental Science A.S. and Physical Sciences A.S. with Chemistry, Physics or Earth Science tracks.
“The college is pleased to provide our students with this special opportunity to connect with local industries and institutions,” said Officer in Charge Louis Coplin. “We want students to gain first-hand knowledge about the four-year colleges they wish to transfer to and the careers they are pursuing so they can feel confident as they move ahead with their academic and professional endeavors. We are also grateful to the colleges, companies and partners that show up to our career fairs making them such a success for our students.”
