Michael Eaton Named Director of Public Safety

Michael Eaton has been named the new Director of Public Safety at Hudson Valley Community College.
Eaton joins Hudson Valley with 37 years of law enforcement experience. For the New York State Police, he served as major – director of training for the Academy; acting troop commander for the NYS Thruway (Troop T); captain – executive officer for the NYS Thruway (Troop T); and as a lieutenant; station commander; sergeant; and trooper. Previously, he served as a police officer for the Troy Police Department.
In addition, Eaton is a current member of the Police Benevolent Association and previously served as the athletic director and coach of the Our Lady of Victory CYO Basketball program for many years.
He earned a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts, both from the University at Albany, as well as a certification for instructor in criminal justice, earned from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice/New York State Police Instructor Development School.

Eaton was appointed following the retirement of Fred Aliberti, who served as Hudson Valley’s Public Safety director since 2007. He began his position on Aug. 12, 2024.
