College Freezes Tuition for Second Consecutive Year; Rensselaer County Approves 2024-25 Budget
July 10, 2024
Hudson Valley Community College has held tuition stable for a second consecutive year making the college one of the most affordable higher education options in the state. Full-time students who are New York State residents will pay $2,528 per semester (plus fees). Part-time resident students will pay $211 per credit hour. (See Tuition and Fees).
The Rensselaer County Legislature approved the college’s $106,105,178 budget for fiscal year 2024-25 last evening.
“I’m proud to note that although Hudson Valley recently became the third largest community college in New York State – and the largest in upstate New York – our tuition costs remain lower than the average amongst the 30 community colleges in the SUNY system,” said Officer in Charge Louis Coplin. “Hudson Valley continues to be a gateway to opportunity for both advanced education and essential career training.”
Earlier this spring, the college released its Fall 2024 semester schedule, which includes more than 2,000 course sections beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3. The majority of classes are scheduled to be held on campus but, as it has for several decades, the college also will continue to offer a large number of courses in an online or hybrid learning format. Among its 80 degree and certificate programs, more than 20 are offered online.
Holding the line on tuition is just one of a number of actions the college has taken recently that continue to make Hudson Valley more accessible to students. This summer, the college is providing a full scholarship for high school students completing summer session courses as well as low cost “head start” workshops for those planning to start their college education this fall.
The college’s Admissions Office is holding an Instant Admission Day, Wednesday, July 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., where students interested in enrolling for the fall can complete many of the steps to ready themselves for beginning their studies this fall.
