College is Home to Albany FireWolves Lacrosse Practice for Two Years

Hudson Valley Community College has signed a two-year agreement with the Albany FireWolves to host the team’s practice sessions on a new turf field in the Conway Arena, located within the McDonough Sports Complex.
As part of the new partnership, the college receives discounted ticket rates for students, faculty and staff interested in attending Albany FireWolves home games at the MVP Arena and an opportunity to recruit students and share information on college activities during the season.
The Albany FireWolves are a professional box lacrosse team that plays in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Founded in 1987 as the Philadelphia Wings, one of the four original NLL teams, the team was sold and relocated in 2015, playing six seasons as the New England Black Wolves in Uncasville, CT. In 2021, the franchise was sold again and relocated to Albany, becoming the Albany FireWolves and bringing box lacrosse to the Capital Region for the first time since 2002.
“We are so proud to become an official partner of the Albany FireWolves and welcome the team to our campus for practice sessions,” President Roger Ramsammy said. “This collaboration is one of many that open our doors to the greater community and support the success of local organizations. We are excited to support the team over the next two years and wish them our best for the current season.”
The regular season runs through April, playing against teams statewide, across the nation and in Canada. Throughout the state, they face teams such as the Buffalo Bandits, the Rochester Knighthawks and the New York Riptide.
