Hudson Valley Community College Foundation Gala Honors GlobalFoundries
November 29, 2021
At its 2021 Gala, the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation honored GlobalFoundries (GF) for the company’s philanthropy and for more than a decade of collaboration with the college as a workforce partner. GF is one of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers and, as one of the Capital Region’s leading employers, a catalyst for economic growth. The celebration took place October 15, 2021 at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom in Troy.
For more than a decade, Hudson Valley’s Training and Education Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing and Alternative and Renewable Technologies (TEC-SMART) in Malta has served as an essential workforce training site for the company. The growing workforce at the nearby GF Fab 8 facility already includes hundreds of Hudson Valley graduates and student apprentices. GF also has partnered with Hudson Valley to inspire future generations of talent through Girls in STEM and FIRST Robotics initiatives and events.
Proceeds from the 2021 Foundation Gala will benefit the capital campaign for HVCC North, which calls for extensive renovations to TEC-SMART and the construction of a new Health & STEM Education Center. Upon completion, the campus extension center will allow more students to be educated faster in general science and health sciences, and will benefit the more than 1,000 students who currently commute from the northern region to Hudson Valley’s main campus in Troy. We thank GlobalFoundries for the lead campaign gift, and appreciate the support of alumni, friends, corporate sponsors and community partners in this important undertaking.
