College Names New Department Chair for Education and Social Sciences

Elizabeth Yanoff, Ph.D. was recently named the department chairperson for the Education and Social Science Department at Hudson Valley Community College.
Yanoff has had a two-decade career in teaching and most recently was a tenured faculty member at the Thelma P. Lally School of Education at The College of Saint Rose. She served as department chair for undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs at Saint Rose for much of the past four years.
The Niskayuna resident takes over a department at Hudson Valley that includes all of the college’s academic programs related to teacher preparation as well as faculty and curriculum in history, philosophy and the social sciences. She will oversee students pursuing Early Childhood, Early Childhood Administration and Adolescence Education associate degrees as well as those in the Special Education Assistant, Teaching Assistant and Early Childhood Administration certificate programs.
Yanoff received her doctoral degree and a certificate of advanced study in reading from the University at Albany School of Education. She received a master’s in education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a B.A. in psychology from Swarthmore College.
