Statement from President Ramsammy on New SUNY Chancellor James Malatras

SUNY Chancellor Dr. Jim Malatras and HVCC President Dr. Roger Ramsammy

I’d like to share my congratulations, on behalf of Hudson Valley Community College, with Dr. Jim Malatras on his appointment as the fourteenth Chancellor of the State University of New York. Dr. Malatras has been a great partner to Hudson Valley during his previous role as president of SUNY Empire State College, supporting collaborative efforts between our two colleges to expand educational access for students. He is experienced in the education sector and has most recently demonstrated his excellent leadership through his contributions to New York State’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Malatras’ leadership and vision will help create new opportunities for colleges and students across the SUNY system, and I look forward to working with him in his new role as Chancellor.
