President Ramsammy’s Statement on VP Reuter's Appointment to Interim President at ECC
June 29, 2020
It is with pride and also a sense of loss that I announce that Vice President for Administration and Finance Bill Reuter will leave Hudson Valley Community College to take on the role of interim president at Erie Community College (ECC) beginning this Wednesday.
Bill, who has served our college since 2017, had previously served as chief administrative and financial officer at ECC for nearly 20 years. He also was the Buffalo-area college’s interim president from 2006 to 2008.
While here at Hudson Valley, Bill was a key member of my executive team and oversaw all fiscal and budgetary actions of the college. He was the administrative liaison to our college's Board of Trustees and the chief bargaining unit negotiator. He also was a good friend, a knowledgeable administrator and, overall, a tremendous asset to our college.
ECC announced in April that President Dan Hocoy was leaving for a position as a vice chancellor and campus president at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City. ECC’s Board of Trustees approved Reuter’s interim appointment at a recent meeting, and SUNY’s board approved it earlier today.
We will announce a transition plan for how the college will deal with Vice President Reuter’s move in the coming days, but I want to offer my personal thanks for the work Bill has done on our college’s behalf over the past three years and wish him well as he takes on this new, but familiar role, at ECC.
