Toss the Feathers Brings Irish Music and History to College on March 12

Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with a dose of regional history when Toss the Feathers performs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium on the Troy campus. The concert is open and free to the public.

The Irish trio will present its recently-debuted local heritage program, “Musical Postcards from Irish Albany and Troy,” that recounts in stories, songs and tunes some of the remarkable history of the Irish people who settled in the Upper Hudson Valley.

Toss the Feathers -- Amy Schoch, violin, viola and vocals; Dave Smith, Irish bouzouki, banjo and vocals, and David Pease, Irish flute and whistles – “came together” in 2015 from friendships formed at Irish music sessions. The group plays at local pubs, festivals, weddings and hosts a monthly ceilidh (social event of traditional Irish or Scottish music, dancing and storytelling) at The Olde English Pub in Albany. “We’re living our dream of being a live, local band that’s fun to hear and dance to.”

No advance reservations are needed to attend the performance by Toss the Feathers.
