Egyptian Artist Karim Nagi Brings Presentation to College Friday, Feb. 14

All are welcome to attend a multi-media presentation – Karim Nagi: Arab Arts vs. Stereotyping & Islamophobia – on Friday, Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Bulmer Telecommunications Auditorium on the Troy campus. The free event opens the college’s Cultural Affairs Program spring 2020 schedule of events.

Egyptian performing artist Karim Nagi’s multi-media presentation features Arab instruments (the tablah, riqq and buzuq) and rousing performances of “Baladi TukTuk” and “Oriental Magic Carpet” from “Detour Guide,” one of his many CDs.

A self-described “culture bearer,” Nagi’s mission is to demonstrate how familiarity between cultural groups reduces racism. He uses his own career, research data, music and videos to dispel stereotypes. Nagi has performed and taught at more than 300 schools and at major arts and cultural festivals throughout the United States, Asia and Europe.

No advance reservations are needed to attend Arab Arts vs. Stereotyping.
