Four Students Named To USA Today Phi Theta Kappa All-New York Academic Team

Four Hudson Valley Community College students were recently named to the USA Today Phi Theta Kappa All-New York Academic Team.

The students honored are: Jennifer Edwards, Melissa Kern, Inesa Pengu and Nathanael Savasta. At a ceremony on March 6 at the New York State Museum, the four will be honored with other outstanding students from community colleges around the state.

Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in higher education, serving nearly 1,300 colleges in all 50 states and nine countries. Members of the All-New York Academic Team are recognized for their academic achievements, leadership accomplishments and engagement in community service.

Edwards, of Johnsonville, is pursuing an Early Childhood degree. Kern, a Latham resident, is studying in the Liberal Arts and Sciences - Humanities and Social Science degree program. Pengu, of Troy, is in the Engineering Science program. Savasta, a West Coxsackie resident, is in the Business Administration program.
