Longtime Board of Trustees Secretary George Raneri Named to Statewide Post

George Raneri, who has served as secretary to Hudson Valley Community College's Board of Trustees for the past 18 years and previously served as a trustee from 1981 through 1998, has been named secretary for the New York Community College Trustees (NYCCT).
NYCCT is a non-profit consortium of community college trustees who work to strengthen the effectiveness of the state's community college governing boards in the development and implementation of public policy.
Raneri, an emeritus trustee to the college's board, has served as the college's appointed delegate to NYCCT for 34 years. As secretary, he will join its executive committee.
Raneri has previously received several NYCCT honors, including the 1994 Marvin A. Rapp Award for Distinguished Trustee Service, which is given for dedicated and effective service as a trustee over an extended period of time, and the 2009 Alice Holloway Young Award for Distinguished Service, which is given to a distinguished trustee following his or her retirement from the board.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 85 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 11,500 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 75,000 alumni.
