Pumpkin Palooza Fall Festival is Thursday, Oct. 26

WHO: Families from the community are invited to join students and staff of Hudson Valley Community College for the annual "Pumpkin Palooza" festivities at the college.

WHAT: During the day, Engineering Science students will compete in the annual Pumpkin Launch using catapults they have designed and built. Prizes will be awarded to the student groups that hit their target.

In the evening, children and accompanying adults from the community will enjoy a free pre-Halloween celebration that includes music, a magic show by magician Jim Snack, balloon sculptures, carnival games with prizes, caricatures, refreshments, and an appearance by Mr. Twisty the clown, among other activities. Attendees are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to the event.

Participants can walk through a display of pumpkins carved and/or decorated by Hudson Valley students and staff for a competition earlier in the day. The event will conclude with a drawing for one girl's and one boy's bike and helmet.

More than 1,000 are expected to attend the event, now in its eighth year.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017
The Pumpkin Launch takes place from 11:30 a.m. to noon
Judging of the pumpkin carving/decorating competition will be at noon.
Family/community activities run from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

WHERE: The Pumpkin Launch will be held in the Campus Quad area in front of the Siek Campus Center. Judging of the pumpkin carving/decorating takes place in the Campus Center. Evening activities take place in the McDonough Sports Complex.

DETAILS: All events are free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring a food item for donation to the college's food pantry.
