William D. Reuter Named Vice President for Administration and Finance

William D. Reuter, a higher education professional who has served as chief administrative and financial officer at Erie Community College (ECC) for nearly 20 years, has been named vice president for administration and finance at Hudson Valley Community College.
The approval of Reuter, who also served as interim president at ECC from 2006 to 2008, was made at the April meeting of the college's Board of Trustees. Reuter's appointment follows the retirements of longtime college vice presidents Jim LaGatta and Joel Fatato. He is expected to begin his service at Hudson Valley in June 2017.

"He brings decades of leadership experience and industry knowledge, as well as a deep understanding of the State University and community college systems, in particular. Hudson Valley will benefit greatly from his expertise."
In his new role at Hudson Valley, Reuter will serve on the president's senior staff, act as the administrative liaison to the college's Board of Trustees and chief bargaining unit negotiator. He also will oversee all fiscal and budgetary actions of the college as well as the offices of Environmental Health and Safety, Human Resources, Public Safety and the Physical Plant.

In addition to his lengthy administrative service at Erie Community College, Reuter has taught accounting at ECC and also at Jefferson Community College. He also has held leadership positions at the Erie County Industrial Development Agency and Erie County Comptroller's Office.
He is a product of the SUNY system, having earned his associate degree in accounting from Nassau Community College, a bachelor's degree in accounting from Binghamton University and a M.A. in Labor and Policy Studies from Empire State College.
Reuter currently serves as the first vice president of the state-wide Community College Business Officers Association. He also has been active in several other SUNY-wide initiatives, including the SUNY Chancellor's Budget Task Force that explored county chargebacks as they relate to the state's community colleges.
