Excelsior Scholarship Included in New York State Budget
April 10, 2017
The Excelsior Scholarship, a proposal to provide tuition-free college at New York's public colleges and universities for families making up to $125,000 a year, was included in the final New York State FY 2018 Executive Budget approved over the weekend.
The program will begin in Fall 2017, and its application procedures and regulations will be developed and managed by the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) in coordination with SUNY and the Governor's office. SUNY is in the process of creating a call center to address questions from students and families.
In the meantime, SUNY and HESC have created Frequently Asked Questions websites that include more information. Both sites include links to sign up to receive updates and additional information.
