Beatles Expert Scott Freiman Deconstructs "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band" on Thursday, May 4

April 12, 2017

Composer and musician Scott Freiman, perhaps best known as the "guy who deconstructs The Beatles' albums," shares his in-depth exploration of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" on Thursday, May 4 at Hudson Valley Community College. The free 11 a.m. lecture/multimedia presentation is open to the public and will be held in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center auditorium on campus, at 80 Vandenburgh Ave. in Troy.

"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is "the greatest album of all time," according to Rolling Stone magazine, which polled nearly 400 artists, producers, music industry executives and journalists in 2003 and 2009 to compile its current "best 500 albums," published in 2012. Rolling Stone describes Sgt. Pepper as "the most important rock and roll album ever made, an unsurpassed adventure in concept, sound, songwriting, cover art and studio technology by the greatest rock & roll group of all time." According to beatleslectures.com, Freiman "examines Sgt. Pepper from multiple angles, exploring the history behind the music and leading his audiences on an amazing journey into the creative process of The Beatles' performances and recording sessions. His presentation is an eye (and ear) opener even for diehard Beatles fans, who already recognize Sgt. Pepper as a masterpiece, and fosters a newfound appreciation for the incredible talents of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr."

Scott Freiman holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Music from Yale University and a Master's of Music Composition from New York University. He co-founded and was CEO of Credit Management Solutions, Inc., an early e-business success that he sold in 2001 to pursue his dream of being a full-time composer and producer. He's since written numerous film and television scores. In fall 2005, his sold-out Carnegie Hall concert featured his original music, a 17-piece orchestra and a children's choir. Freiman divides his time between Sleepy Hollow, New York, and North Hollywood, California.
