Ricky P. Thibodeau, of Slingerlands, was recently appointed chair of the Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Marketing Department at Hudson Valley Community College. In addition, Thibodeau will oversee the School of Business Advisement Center for students.
With more than 1500 students enrolled in business programs, the School of Business at Hudson Valley offers 12 degree and three certificate programs in the areas of business, accounting, marketing, computer information systems, entrepreneurship and information technology. This past fall, a new Associate in Applied Science degree in Digital Marketing was opened for those who are interested in online, digital and social media marketing or advertising, Web design, digital content management and Web analytics. Business programs provide students the option of obtaining immediate employment or transferring to a four-year college or university depending on the program they have chosen.
Before taking on his current role, Thibodeau was the assistant dean at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Lally School of Management and Technology, where he directed overall operations, including enrollment management, career services, alumni affairs, student services, industry relations, advising and information technology. His corporate career includes over 10 years of experience in localization/internationalization and several years working with partners in China, Japan, Korea and Europe. He is an experienced entrepreneur and an adjunct faculty member at Missouri State University.
"I strongly support Hudson Valley Community College's mission of providing a high-quality, affordable and accessible education," he said. "My work within this department will connect me with a diverse cross-section of the student body and allow me to have a part in turning out the successful, driven, career- and transfer-ready students this college is known for."
Thibodeau completed his master's degree in business administration at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his bachelor's degree in computer science at SUNY Plattsburgh and his associate in applied science degree in computer information systems at Hudson Valley.
