Addiction and the “Recovery Revolution” is Topic of Discussion at College, Wednesday, April 20

What: 23 million Americans are living in recovery from substance abuse and countless others are reaching out to get help every day. Across the Capital Region, many young people are finding recovery solutions after struggling with various addictions. Others are not so fortunate and have succumbed to their addiction.

This panel discussion will provide education about the resources and services to support recovery efforts, and how people can get involved in the growing movement to support recovery.

Learn more about how you might identify and assist someone struggling with addiction, and discover the resources available in the Capital Region to support recovery efforts. 

The event, which is open to the public, is sponsored by the college's Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling Department.

Who: Leading the panel discussion will be: Susan Brandau, Director, Bureau of Recovery, NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services; Robert J. Lindsey, Chief Executive Officer, Friends of Recovery - New York; D.J. Rhodes, Hudson Valley Student Intern, Young People in Recovery Spokesperson; and Brian Farr, Coordinator, Hudson Valley Community College Chemical Dependency Counseling Program. 

Where/When: The discussion will run from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, in the college's Maureen Stapleton Theatre, located in the Siek Campus Center.
