Experience Engineering Event to Draw 200+ High School Students and Parents to Hudson Valley

What: More than 200 high school students and their parents are expected to attend Experience Engineering at Hudson Valley Community College. The event is designed to inform and encourage students who may be interested in pursuing an education and career in the field of engineering.

The event, held every three years at the college, includes panel discussions with current engineering students and working engineers.

Who: Mathematics and technology teachers from 85 local school districts were asked to identify 9th, 10th and 11th grade students who show aptitude and interest in the field of engineering. Those students were then given a special invitation to attend. This year's event may nearly double the number of participating students from the last Experience Engineering, held in 2012.

Where: Bulmer Telecommunications Center, Hudson Valley Community College, Troy

When: 6:15 to 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4

Details: Hudson Valley Community College's Math and Engineering Science Department hosts this event as a public service to inform and encourage students to enter careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields.

The college has had one of the most well-respected two-year engineering science programs in the country for several decades. Graduates regularly move on to programs at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Buffalo, the University at Albany and Clarkson University.
