Pumpkin Palooza Fall Festival for Community and Students this Thursday

WHO: Families from the surrounding community are invited to join students and staff of Hudson Valley Community College for "Pumpkin Palooza" festivities at the college.
WHAT: During the day, Engineering Science students will compete in the annual Pumpkin Launch using catapults they have designed and built. Prizes will be awarded to the student groups that hit the target.
In the evening, children and accompanying adults from the community will enjoy a free, pre-Halloween celebration that includes music, a magic show, balloon sculptures, games with prizes, bounce houses and refreshments.
Participants can walk through a display of more than 100 pumpkins carved and/or decorated by Hudson Valley students and staff for a competition earlier in the day. The event will conclude with a drawing for one girl's and one boy's bike and helmet.
More than 1,000 are expected to attend the event, now in its sixth year.

The Pumpkin Launch takes place from 11 a.m. to noon
Judging of the pumpkin carving/decorating competition will be at noon.
Family/community activities run from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
WHERE: The Pumpkin Launch will be held in the Campus Quad area in front of the Campus Center. Judging of the pumpkin carving/decorating takes place in the Campus Center. Evening activities take place in the McDonough Sports Complex.
DETAILS: All events are free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring a food item for donation to the college's food pantry.
