College Promotes Kathleen Sweener of Troy to Executive Director of Student Development and Wellness

Hudson Valley Community College has announced that Troy resident Dr. Kathleen Sweener has been promoted to the new position of executive director of student development and wellness.
Dr. Sweener has served as director of student development since 2000, supervising a staff that dealt with both personal counseling and academic transfer counseling in the college's Center for Counseling and Transfer.
A reorganization of college's student service offices brings Dr. Sweener to her new post, which will oversee the college's personal counseling services, career and transfer planning and health services. She also has been charged to proactively develop and encourage wellness-related services and activities around campus. The college's new Wellness Center, located in the Siek Campus Center, will be supervised by Dr. Sweener.
She is a graduate of the University at Albany, where she received her doctoral degree in school psychology. She received her master's degree in applied psychology from Long Island University and her bachelor's degree from Siena College. She began her career at Hudson Valley in 1988, and was the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2007.
