College Names Chris Helwig of Poestenkill Dean of Educational Outreach and Academic Services

Hudson Valley Community College has announced that Poestenkill resident Christine Helwig has been promoted to the new position of dean of educational outreach and academic services.

She has served as associate dean of educational outreach and academic services at the college for more than nine years.

In her new role, Helwig will continue to oversee the college's growing distance learning and College in the High School programs, each of which has seen substantial growth over the past decade. She also will oversee the college's Office of Community and Professional Education, Scheduling Office and Center for Effective Teaching.

Helwig, a 2004 recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service, has worked in the administration of the college for more than 30 years and has been actively involved in the growth of the college's community and professional education offerings.

She received her bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College and a master's degree from the University at Albany.
