“Coming to Hudson Valley gave me that extra time to fully figure out what I wanted to do.”

Two-year school or four-year school? Mariam Alyassin wasn’t exactly sure civil engineering was going to be the right career for her. Like many high school graduates, she wanted to explore her options, and that’s why Hudson Valley Community College was a great choice.

“Eighteen is really young to decide what you want to do,” she said. “Coming to Hudson Valley gave me that extra time to fully figure out what I wanted to do.”

Generations of bright young minds have started their engineering educations at Hudson Valley and transferred on to RPI, Clarkson, SUNY Binghamton and other top schools. Now, Mariam will join those ranks, having saved thousands in tuition by starting at HVCC.

“I have had excellent professors who have been there to answer any questions I’ve had,” she said. “This was the right choice for me.”
