Service Learning & Civic Engagement
The Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement allows you to earn college credit for community service and volunteer activities related to subjects covered in class.
When you combine classroom learning with real-world experiences in the community, you'll make a positive difference in the world while enhancing your own education.
Through their service learning experiences, our students have: identified new career paths and learned of new interests; understood how complex social issues are experienced by individuals in our communities; learned important life lessons; improved their understanding of course concepts and their relevance; and found more motivation in their courses.
Students who participated in service learning in the past have said:
- “it made me feel like I was a part of something that was bigger than me”
- “you never know where you’ll find yourself, but you can always count on the experiences other people have taught you and use it as strength to counter obstacles in your life”
- “it helped me understand the [course] materials”
- “it is wonderful to feel like our work is actually going towards a useful cause”
