About the Aeronautical Technical Institute
Located at the Albany International Airport (ALB), Hudson Valley Community College’s Aeronautical Technical Institute (ATI) is home to advanced aviation labs, testing equipment and fully operational maintenance hangars. The ATI has classroom and digital library facilities and immediate airfield access.
History
The story behind the founding of the ATI began in early 2020, when officials at Albany International Airport learned of a shortage of aviation mechanics in the local area during discussions with local airline partners. At that time, Albany International Airport leadership reached out to the administration at Hudson Valley Community College regarding this critical shortage, and a partnership was formed.
Almost simultaneously, Albany International Airport learned that the Champlain Valley Educational Services Board of Cooperative Educational Services (CVES), located in Plattsburgh, had discontinued its Aviation Maintenance Technician School and was selling a majority of that program’s equipment and curriculum. Hudson Valley took the opportunity to purchase parts of that program and the Aeronautical Technical Institute was born.
