The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Atrium, located in the Marvin Library Learning Commons, hosts local and national exhibits throughout the year.
All exhibits are open to the campus community and public during regular library hours.

Pixels and Alchemy
On Exhibit: Wednesday, May 10 - Friday, Sept. 15, 2023
Pixels and Alchemy is a faculty/alumni exhibition curated by Digital Media Assistant Professor Kyra Garrigue.
The exhibition features the work of Assistant Professor of Digital Media Justin Baker and Digital Media alumni Alison Bachorik. Both artists expand upon the notion of traditional photography by incorporating alternative processes, digital manipulation and a de/reconstructive process to their images. The exhibition will close with a talk by both artists in the Fall semester on a date to be announced.

Black History Month Exhibit
On Exhibit: Tuesday, Jan. 17 – Friday, Feb. 24, 2023
In recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Black History Month, the annual exhibit features books and other materials, as well as posters and educational artifacts from the collections of the library, in recognition of the history, challenges and triumphs of Black Americans and the struggle for civil rights.
Pride Of Our Nation, Pride of Our College
On Exhibit: Thursday, Nov. 10 - Friday, Dec. 16, 2022
The 11th annual Pride of Our Nation…Pride of Our College exhibition will feature photographs of students, faculty, staff, along with their relatives and ancestors, who served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Artifacts will also be on display as well as an “In Memoriam” wall dedicated to those veterans and active duty personnel who have passed away between November 2021 and October 2022.
Día de Muertos: Altar Exhibit

In celebration of Day of the Dead, a Día de Muertos Altar Exhibit will be on display. Dia de Los Muertos is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated on Nov. 1 when families create elaborate altars to honor their departed loved ones and ancestors.
Banned Books Week
Saturday, Sept. 17 – Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022
Libraries nationwide recognize Banned Books Week to promote freedom to read and awareness of censorship. Dwight Marvin Library’s display features not only books from the collection that have been banned elsewhere, but also the histories of challenges to some of the featured titles.
Pride Of Our Nation, Pride of Our College

Col. Earl B. Schonberg, Jr., the Watervliet Arsenal’s 61st Commander, is guest speaker at the opening of “Pride of Our Nation…Pride of Our College,” the 10th exhibition of military photographs and memorabilia loaned by faculty, staff and students at Hudson Valley Community College. The exhibit is an ever-changing collection of photographs and varied memorabilia of veterans and active military service members with a connection to the college.
September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World
Monday, Aug. 30 – Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021
A 14-panel exhibit curated by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum for the 20th anniversary of the attack in the United States on 9/11/2001 is on display.
The exhibition uses archival imagery, artifact photography, and individual stories that accompany explanatory text which give visitors a deeper understanding of a key moment in modern American history. The poster exhibition was developed by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and has been made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom.

Altar de Dia de Muertos
Wednesday, Oct. 24 – Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018
Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated on Nov. 1 when families create elaborate altars to honor their departed loved ones and ancestors. The altars are decorated with skeletons, sugar skull candy, flowers and candles, and offerings of food and drink that the family members had enjoyed in their earthbound lives. Malu Benton, associate professor in the English, Foreign Languages and English as a Second Language Department, will design the altar.

A native and life-long resident of Albany, Mark Kelly creates bright, colorful scenes with acrylic and marble-like patterns with acrylic, flotrol and silicon oil. His images are featured in the fall 2018 brochure listing the college's Voices: A Library Lecture Series.
Questar III High School Juried Art Show

Paintings, drawings, video and sculpture by high school students representing 23 school districts in Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties are included in this 29th annual exhibition.
Juan Maldonado: Da Vinci's Disciple
Jan. 22 - March 2, 2018
An exhibit of works by Juan Maldonado, a native of Puerto Rico who studied in Europe and was greatly influenced by the works of Leonardo DaVinci. In New York City, Maldonado developed his specialty in portraiture and reportedly completed 400-plus commissions. He was artist-in-residence at the Bronx Museum and an advocate for Latino artists, helping create the Nuyorican movement in the 1960s. After a long and brilliant career, Maldonado died in Vega Alta, PR in December 2016. The serigraphs on display are courtesy of the Juan Maldonado Estate and the Martinez Gallery in Troy.
Every Necessary Care & Attention: George Washington & Medicine

This traveling exhibit from the National Library of Medicine explores the story of George Washington's personal health and examines the ways in which he sought to safeguard the health and wellness of his family, staff, slaves, and troops. The six-panel display illuminates the broader context of the experience of illness and the practice of medicine in Washington's time. This exhibition was developed and produced by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health with George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate, Museum and Gardens.
