Resource Sharing Policy
The resource sharing service provides materials for the study and research needs of the college community by obtaining needed items that are not available at Dwight Marvin Library from other libraries. Faculty, staff, administrators, and students who are registered for the current term may use the service. There are no fees charged to users for this service.
The following materials will not be borrowed or lent through resource sharing:
- Textbooks or books known to be required texts for Hudson Valley Community College courses
- E-books
- Entire volumes of periodicals or microfilm
- Non-circulating items (Reference, Archives, etc.)
- DVDs and media on reserve
Users request items by providing the full citation in an online request form. Up to five items may be requested at one time. Users are notified when a requested item has been received or if the item is not available through resource sharing. Upon presentation of proper identification, users may pick up books at the library first floor service desk; exceptions are made for students enrolled in distance learning programs. Articles are delivered electronically and may be downloaded or printed for personal use, as governed by copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code).
The lending library determines the loan period for requested items. The lending library has the right to recall loans at any time or to deny a renewal.
Borrowers will be charged a replacement fee for items which are not returned or that are returned damaged. Fines will be posted to an individual's WIReD account and resource sharing services will be suspended until the items are returned or the fines are paid.
