Employee Update on COVID-19 Guidance from VP Coplin

Posted Jan. 17, 2022

Colleagues,

As we begin the Spring semester, I would like to share some important updates related to COVID-19 safety policies on campus.

Student Vaccination Policy: As you may know, SUNY has modified its COVID-19 vaccination policy for students attending in-person classes to include a booster requirement. Those students will be required to receive a booster by Feb. 1, or within one month of becoming eligible for one. Please see the Jan. 7 Campus Chronicle post “Requirements for students attending 2022 in-person classes.”

Employee Vaccination and Record Submission: We also continue to strongly encourage all faculty and staff to get vaccinated and receive their boosters as soon as they are eligible in order to better protect the health and safety of our entire community. Also, if you have not done so, please upload a copy of your vaccination or booster record to the college’s online COVID-19 Vaccine Documentation Form so we may accurately report data to SUNY, as required.

Testing Requirements: SUNY has also stipulated that all students will be required to submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test upon their return to campus. We urge all employees to also get tested as the semester begins. Pooled surveillance testing on campus remains available to all employees. Please note that faculty and staff who are not fully vaccinated are still required to test weekly, as they were last semester.

Masking Requirements: The college, along with New York State and SUNY, continues to require all individuals on campus to wear a mask at all times while indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Please review the CDC’s guidance on what qualifies as an appropriate mask.

Cleaning supplies: If you need cleaning supplies, masks, hand sanitizer or other items for your office or classroom, contact Larry Amos at (518) 629-7141 or l.amos@hvcc.edu.

Finally, please visit our COVID-19 Info page for the latest information. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with your supervisor or a member of the college’s COVID-19 response team. Our team will continue to meet weekly, and we will continue to communicate any news or updates. Thank you for continuing to help us keep our campus community safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Louis Coplin, Vice President for Student Affairs
