Biology, Chemistry and Physics

The Biology, Chemistry and Physics Department oversees programs and coursework in the life sciences and physical sciences.

Programs
The department oversees degree and certificate offerings in the areas of biological sciences, biotechnology, environmental science and physical sciences with tracks in biology, chemistry and physics.

Courses
Most of the biology, chemistry and physics course offerings include both the experience of the guided laboratory and small group sessions. Many are available partially or entirely online and in the evening.

In collaboration with the Math and Engineering Science Department and many of the technology programs, the department provides general education courses appropriate for career and transfer. Some courses provide an interdisciplinary approach to the study of physics.

Facilities
The Science Center is home to the department. This silver LEED-certified building serves the campus community with courses suitable for both science and non-science majors and includes a functioning greenhouse for interdisciplinary science study. The welcoming atmosphere of the Science Study Center gives students a place to collaborate and get help with their science coursework.

Faculty
The department's dedicated faculty include many with Ph.D. degrees and those who have received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
