Exercise science is the study of how the body responds to physical activity. This transfer-oriented, two-year associate degree is designed for students interested in beginning their educational path toward a bachelor's degree in athletic training, exercise science/nutrition, kinesiology, sports medicine or occupational therapy. You'll study the relationship between exercise and human performance, as well as the role of physical activity in the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

This is primarily a transfer-oriented program, aimed at providing the first two years of a bachelor's degree in the fields mentioned above. The department has strong relationships with other SUNY four-year colleges and universities who offer exercise science programs, such as SUNY Cortland and SUNY Brockport. Graduates of four-year programs in Exercise Science are prepared for entry- to mid-level jobs in the fitness industry, such as training, strength coaching, managerial, directorial and corporate wellness roles.

“Our goal was to just try to make health and fitness more accessible to people. And when we started out, we weren’t thinking of this as a business.”
