The Business-Marketing degree program is designed for students who want to find careers in marketing, sales, advertising or related fields.
The degree also is part of the core Business curriculum so it will also provide you with a strong foundation of business knowledge.
This academic program is primarily designed for those who wish to enter the workforce immediately following graduation. Some graduates may wish to transfer to a four-year institution and articulation agreements exist with several colleges.
This program is offered by the Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Marketing Department.
Career and Transfer Opportunities
Career opportunities exist in a variety of business settings for those earning a Marketing degree. About half of recent graduates continue on to a four-year college. Career titles include: Advertising Sales Agent, Promotions Manager, Travel Agent, Meeting Planner.
Recent employers include: Advantage Transportation; Aids Council of Northeastern New York; Casa Visco; Dutch Apple Cruises; General Dynamics; Time Warner Cable; and Uncle Sam Piping.
Some graduates of this A.A.S. program also continue their education at a four-year college or university. Recent graduates have moved on to The University of Albany, Siena College, SUNY Empire State College and SUNY Plattsburgh.
Salaries vary based on position and degree attainment. Many management or upper-level positions require a bachelor's degree or higher. Here are median salaries taken from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (as of 2015): Sales Representatives, $51,700; Advertising Sales Agent, $48,490; Public Relations Specialist, $56,770.

Graduates of the program should be able to:

- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
- Understand the process of making ethical marketing and business decisions.
- Use critical thinking skills to interpret quantitative and qualitative data to assess marketing and business situations.
